Technology
Technology provides the tools of our trades, keeps our fingers
on the pulse of the global markets, helps us communicate and
collaborate across the world – and makes everything work.
Technology is the key to having a competitive advantage and it’s
becoming more influential in our success every year. Our IT
capability is divided into two main functions: Infrastructure,
which concentrates on the hardware that links people to information
across the world, and Development, which creates and maintains the
tailored software applications that support traders.
Our technologists do some incredible work. We offer one of the
best technology platforms in the financial industry. We operate
Citi’s WAN and LAN telecommunications and provide voice, e-mail,
internet, data processing and desktop services in more than 100
countries. We also provide specific functions such as the operation
of command and customer service centers, security control devices,
gateways for remote access and host and server systems.
Operations
Operations is the functional core of our business, clearing,
settling and executing more than 525,000 trades and moving billions
of dollars every day. This is a fast-paced, high-tech environment
characterized by a practical commitment to continuous improvement.
It would be wrong to think of this as a back-office function,
because as well as making everything else possible, the people
working in Operations are the primary drivers of our competitive
edge in the markets. The bottom line is, if we can do business
faster and more efficiently than anyone else, we’ll get more of it.
The Operations team is behind that.
Human Resources
Human Resources looks after one of the most important client
groups for Citi: its employees. Across the globe, Human
Resources share a common goal of attracting, retaining,
compensation, benefits, employee relations and developing talent as
well as constantly embracing diversity throughout the organization.
This is a valuable endeavor, which is inextricably linked to the
success of Citi as a whole. In short, Citi's Human Resources
professionals provide outstanding people with the best opportunity
to realize their potential.
Finance
It’s quite a job controlling the finances in a leading financial
services firm. Primarily, the Finance Division is responsible for
supervising all financial reporting and controls pertaining to the
flow of capital into and out of Citi. The Finance Division acts is
a vital strategic partner across all business divisions, working
closely with the many global management teams. The work of our
Finance people spans each of the Citi businesses: Markets &
Banking, Consumer Banking, Global Wealth Management, Citi
Alternative Investments and Corporate Functions. The Finance
Division includes a variety of specific functions, including
Financial Control, Planning and Analysis, Strategy and Business
Development, and Treasury.
Global Risk Management
We support a framework that recognizes the diversity of global
business activities – and balances strong corporate oversight with
defined independent risk management functions at the business
level. At the corporate level, we establish standards and ensure
their on-going appropriateness, approve policies and limits, and
review major risks and exposures. Our Risk Managers establish and
implement policies and practices for their respective businesses
while ensuring consistency with corporate standards.
