Risk Management
What is Risk?
Citi Risk Management function is an independent unit that is
designed to support improved profitability, stability and growth
for Citi. Citi’s risk culture is to take intelligent risk with
shared responsibility without forsaking individual
accountability.
Risk and Citi?
Citi Risk Management is a strategic business partner and works
closely with the global management teams in the Institutional
Clients Group (ICG), the Consumer Bank and Citi Alternative
Investments. The Citi Risk team encompasses a variety of specific
functions such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Risk Architecture,
Infrastructure Risk and Risk Capital.
How are We Structured?
Risk Management is a global organization, with a direct
reporting line into the CEO. Risk Management is organized by
business risk, product risk, regional risk, and business management
functions.
Risk has Business Chief Risk Officers (CRO’s) for each of our
key business units, encompassing the Institutional Clients Group
(ICG), the Consumer Bank, and Citi Alternative Investments.
The CRO’s are responsible for overseeing and managing all risk in
these areas. They partner with the respective Business Heads
and the Senior Management Team for each of those units.
Product Specialists exist across a variety of specialty areas,
such as Fundamental Credit, Structured Credit, and Real
Estate. They work closely with the business risk managers,
regional risk managers and business partners to ensure a
comprehensive and aggregated view of Citi's risks in these
areas.
The Business Management functions are comprised of the Risk CAO,
Risk Architecture, Risk Capital and Infrastructure Risk. The
CAO office is responsible for managing the Risk organization's role
in regulatory relationships, M&A, and reengineering
efforts. Risk Architecture covers all aspects of architecting
Risk's own core systems, risk reporting and analytics, Country
Risk, Global Liquidity, Franchise Risk Reviews and Loan Loss
Reserves. These areas work closely with the Risk Group’s
business, region and product specialists to address issues across
Citi.
Regional Chief Risk Officers exist for EMEA, Latin America, and
Asia. They are responsible for managing and tracking the
firm's risks across the Consumer, Institutional Client Group and
Global Wealth Management businesses for the region.
