Analyst
Technology Analyst
Being an Technology, Infrastructure
& Development Analyst at Citi
Our 12-month
Technology Analyst Program fully supports your future development.
We will provide the resources, but you must direct your energy and
intellect to make the most of the opportunity.
Initial Training
This
year-long training program is one of the most demanding and
comprehensive programs we offer. Thankfully, support begins even
before you join us with our ‘buddy’ scheme to help manage the
transition into work.
Your formal training will start at the beginning of September
with 2 weeks’ orientation in London designed to provide you with an
overview of Citi.
During these weeks, you’ll join trainees from other divisions to
learn about the structure of the company, the global marketplace in
which we operate and the resources available and how to access
them. After this orientation, you’ll embark on a longer program of
industry and on-job product training, technology-specific training
and personal development.
The technical training we include in the program is tailored to
your own individual needs. This means you’ll be able to access the
most relevant training for your position and current level of skill
– and essentially develop faster.
What You’ll Learn as an Analyst at
Citi
In addition to the above training, you’ll also
study towards the Securities Institute Investment Administrative
Qualification (IAQ). This course is recognized by the Financial
Services Authority (FSA) and is designed to provide you with a
further understanding of the industry, the securities and
investments business, and the regulatory environment.
We’ll prove our commitment to your constant personal development
at every level. Technical training will be complemented by further
personal development training in areas such as business
communication, influencing, presentation skills and team-building
events. Through our training website, hundreds of internally-run
courses are advertised. The courses cover business, industry and
product programs, web-based training, and technical and personal
development courses.
Who We’re Looking For
Technology offers a
vast range of roles, each unique in its own way, each utilizing a
different set of skills. You can choose to work in
varied roles depending on your interests. For example, if you’re
looking to hone your technical skills, then database management,
software development, networking and Unix/Windows server management
would be ideal areas to start. Similarly, if you’re more interested
in the business side of things, then production support, business
analysis or project office roles prove to be a good platform. Every
role provides the chance to liaise with and expand networks within
both the technology and business areas so wherever you are, you
develop all-round skills.

Placement Program
Citi operates a one-year placement program in Belfast. The
placement program operates in the same way as (and is part of) our
Summer Internship Program.
You’ll attend a half-day induction where you will be introduced
to Citi and learn about the structure of the whole organization and
the Technology division in particular. This will be followed by
regular product awareness presentations. From the onset of your
placement, you’ll be given the opportunity to meet senior heads of
the Technology business and not only learn about our successes, but
also question them on current challenges we face.
Your training will continue throughout the summer when the rest
of the summer interns join (see Summer Internship Section).
Summer Internship
For summer interns that are based in the London office, the
Summer Internship Program runs for 10 weeks from the end of
June.
The internship starts with a two-day induction to Citi where
you’ll meet other summer analysts. This induction and training
program will teach you the basics before you join your teams. The
initial training covers a review of important processes that you
should know as a new employee. The orientation will help you
understand the products and services offered by Citi and you’ll see
how the Technology division works alongside the business to improve
the service and products we deliver to customers.
After Training
Throughout the summer we will continue to provide you with
training and networking opportunities to make sure you gain a more
in-depth knowledge of Citi. These events include a weekly Business
Presentation series, networking opportunities with senior managers,
and various intern-wide social events. You will also be allocated a
‘buddy’ to offer you informal advice and become part of your
support network. After the initial training, you’ll be
assigned to a team within the Technology division, where your first
project or projects will be allocated.
During the program, you’ll take part in a formal evaluation
process that will help us to determine your suitability for a
full-time position on the following year’s Analyst Program.
We do this through:
- A mid-term evaluation
- A project presentation to senior management; and
- A final term review
Remember, this is a two-way process; we also want you to decide
whether this is the right place for you to start your career
