Being a Finance Associate at Citi
The Finance Associate program provides the unique perspective that comes with being cross-sector.  After training, Associates have the opportunity to join a finance team in any one of Citi’s sectors, including Markets & Banking, the Global Consumer Group, Citi Alternative Investments and the Corporate Center.
Initial Training
Your formal training will start with an orientation in designed to provide you with an overview of Citi.  During the first week, you’ll join trainees from other divisions to learn about the structure of the company, the global marketplace in which we operate and the resources available and how to access them. After this orientation, you’ll embark on a longer program of industry and product training, including a four-week period where you will gain in-depth training in accounting, credit/risk, and financial analysis.
What You’ll Learn
The Associate program provides the challenge of diverse rotational assignments in various finance areas across all Citi businesses. Associates have the opportunity to work closely with senior-level finance managers in key areas including Strategy & M&A, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury and Controllers. The program is unique due to the cross-business exposure.
The program consists of three, six-month rotations with the potential for an international rotation.  Several key elements of the program include; access to Citi's senior Finance leaders, exposure to varied global perspectives and businesses, and immediate contribution to the success of our business.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds, Accounting and Finance degrees are a plus. The common factor in all of our new recruits is motivation, strong academic performance, positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team setting in a challenging and changing, high-volume, fast paced environment. Having a genuine passion for the industry is also crucial to becoming a successful associate.

Finance Summer Associate
The Summer Internship Program is a 10 week program.  The Summer Associate Program begins with three days of intensive classroom training in New York City covering Citigroup Orientation, Financial Accounting, Finance, Accounting Policies and Technical Training. The orientation will help you understand Finance and you’ll see how the Finance division works alongside the Citi businesses.
After Orientation
After the orientation, you will work with your pre-assigned team within one of the Finance divisions; Treasury, Strategy, Business Development, Planning & Analysis, Audit & Risk Review, as well as Controllers.  The type of position and deliverable vary for each Summer Associate according to placement and business need. Top performing Summer Associates will be considered for the full time Finance Associate Program. The Summer Program will provide Associates with Mentors, networking opportunities, and Senior Speaker Events where Citi’s senior management will host discussions and answer questions.
