Analyst

Being a Capital Markets Origination Analyst at Citi
Analysts are crucial to our success. They provide the foundation for everything we do. The Capital Markets Origination Analyst program is a two-year program in a specific industry coverage or product group selected at the conclusion of the training program.  Many Financial Analysts are invited to stay for a 3rd year and many eventually become Associates.
Initial Training
Your training starts with orientation that gives you an overview of Citi and, more specifically, the Institutional Clients Group. During this, you’ll also get to meet people from the different teams that make up the Capital Markets Originations division and ultimately decide which team you would like to join. You will be placed depending on your preference as well as where we might need you.
The in-depth training program is taught by some of the best in the business with years of real-world experience. During the first weeks of the program, Analysts study concepts in corporate finance, accounting, and financial modeling along with Analysts from our Investment Banking Division.
Subsequently, Capital Markets Origination Analysts begin a two-week intensive training course that focuses on financial products, securities analytics, bond math, credit, and the businesses that are housed within Capital Markets.
What You’ll Learn as an Analyst at Citi
There’s still a lot to learn after your initial training. Senior management and client interaction, as well as mentorship, will help shape your new position as an analyst.
Who We’re Looking For
Citi seeks individuals with an undergraduate degree and distinguished academic achievement, in addition to a high level of personal integrity, interest in finance, commitment to excellence, high level of energy and strong desire to learn.

Summer Analyst
The summer internship program starts in June with three days of Training and Orientation at the start of the Summer Program. Through formal training, speakers and presentations, they are given an introduction to the Capital Markets Origination businesses as well as the tools they will need to be successful in their summer roles.
After Training
Depending on where we need you and what you’re interested in, you’ll be assigned to an industry or product coverage group. After Training, Summer Analysts report to their groups, where they will take on meaningful responsibility and gain live, hands-on deal experience.
You will make the most of the summer by taking advantage of all our programs like the Distinguished Speaker Series, where senior management host discussions and answer questions. You can also become involved in the formal Mentor Program that allows you to establish connections with Citi’s more experienced bankers to gain invaluable knowledge. And when it comes to fun, our calendar of events for the summer will also feature the best of everything your city has to offer.
